FRESH FROM THE GARDEN
Ground Works/SD Ag in the Classroom announces a series of classes aimed at cooking from the gardens with the Mary Jo Wegner Arboretum.

Got more zucchini than you know what to do with?

Get ideas for ways to use your garden surplus in main dishes, sides, snacks, and desserts. You will be making, sampling, and sharing a variety of recipes containing zucchini using an air fryer, electric frying, spiralizer, and a shredder.

The partnership with the Mary Jo Wegner Arboretum provides Ground Works/SD Ag in the Classroom an invaluable place to resource the “Research and Development” piece of the teaching garden education focus.  Local volunteers from the Minnehaha Master Gardeners collaborate with both organizations to plant, care for, harvest, and educate using the teaching gardens as a demonstration and learning center.  “This is where we can experiment with new techniques and try them out before we introduce them to our teachers out in the field.” said Tim Olsen, executive director of leadership and administration.
